ICYMI – Earlier this month we were thrilled to have so many parents join our "Pancakes for Parents" event! We're excited about how many new families have joined Panther Parents – a group for all parents at CICS Loomis & CICS Longwood Elementary & High School. Panther Parents will plan events, fundraise with purpose, support in all spaces, and most of all be the voice to create solutions. If you missed this event, we'd love to see you at the next Panther Parents event! Reach out to Ms. Grier if you're interested! Special thanks to @GreyMatterPhotog for taking photos – check out the album here: https://bit.ly/CICSLoomisLongwoodEvents23

We love seeing collaboration in our classrooms! Here, students discuss how analyzing a text can help them write their own informative essays. Working together allows students to share ideas and learn from each other. What topic would you choose to write your informative essay about?

Project presentations have begun in Mrs. Drumgoole’s 6th grade Social Studies Class. Students have been learning about different types of artifacts and how they teach us about history. For the project, students had to choose a personal artifact from their lives and present it to the class. This project not only demonstrates their understanding of artifacts, it also allows them to learn about each other!

Ms. Thomas' 4th Grade ELA class collaborated with Mr. Diamond's 5th Grade ELA class. Both are using the “word of the day”. which is an activity where students look at one big word and make as many smaller words as possible. The word today was Intercommunication. Intercommunication can make as many as 1,100 smaller words. Both ELA classes combined set a goal to make at least 180 words. They made a total of 160 words in 15 minutes. What a great way to learn new vocabulary words!
