Children with Enchanted Backpack

On October 8, 2024, CICS Longwood students were treated to generous donations from  Enchanted Backpack as part of our Community Hub model. Special thanks to our Community Schools Coordinator, Tamara Grier for bringing us this opportunity!

Our Community Hub model connects families with resources and builds strong relationships to offer meaningful support. When our schools receive information about family needs, we work to identify and provide the most appropriate resources for assistance. That’s why collaborating with Enchanted Backpack felt like a natural fit!

Enchanted Backpack, a 501(c)3 organization, was started with the belief that all children deserve to have the tools they need to learn and excel, and that all teachers deserve to have the support and materials to make their classrooms exciting learning centers. As the trucks pulled up, CICS Loomis students greeted the team in their lobby with personalized thank you cards while CICS Longwood Elementary students helped unload the haul. The trucks included school supplies like colored pencils, notebooks, and pens along with personal items such as hygiene products and essential clothing. There were even colorful rugs for CICS Loomis classrooms!

Our Loomis-Longwood community is already feeling the impact from Enchanted Backpack’s visit—recently, Ms. Grier connected with a Loomis grandparent who has taken on the role of guardian for her grandchildren and was able to share some of the supplies with her, offering some relief and support during a challenging moment.

Thank you to CICS Loomis & CICS Longwood Elementary Community Schools Coordinator, Tamara Grier, for this partnership, and thank you to the Enchanted Backpack team for their generous service to our community. We hope to continue building our partnership with Enchanted Backpack so that these resources can continue to support our families throughout the year!
